We can say that music is basically composed of three elements: melody, harmony, and rhythm. It is necessary to understand the importance of each element to master its application on your instrument. There are other elements that are also important in music composition, such as pitch, intensity, and volume.
Melody is a sequence of musical notes played in a rhythmic manner. Singing, humming, whistling, and musical instruments can express a melody.
Sounds played simultaneously, at the same time, producing what we call a chord. It also refers to the set of chords that will be played in the composition.
It dictates the style of the music, the duration of the notes. It is a succession of strong and weak beats that alternate with regular intervals. It is mainly determined by percussion instruments, such as drums or percussion.
Classification of sounds into low, medium, and high.
Refers to the perception of the amplitude of the sound wave, characterizing the sound as weak or strong. It is often also called volume.
Characteristic of each sound: it is through it that we differentiate the sound of instruments or voices. For example, when two people sing the same song, they may be singing the same sequence of notes (melody), but each voice will have a different timbre (characteristic). Similarly, if we play the note C on a guitar and the note C on a keyboard, we will notice that the sound is "different." This means that these instruments have different timbres.
